Tradesman's (Divers) Entrance

Station 3. Tradesmans Entrance

Tradesman's entrance is located at the base of a cliff to the east of the river bed of the Mellte. It is a spacious entrance with the underground river clearly visible. To the north of the obvious entrance is a large boulder pile which allows a glimpse of the flowing river. This is the usual access for divers.
It is located at: Google Earth co-ordinates 51°48’02.43”N 3°33’19.65”W
Elevation 257m SN92851250

From Tradesmans entrance a through dive of 190m (re-surveyed by C.Grosart, M.Stewart and B.Cotier) can be made to Top entrance.
Along the way there are two major airbells: Rawl bolt airbell and 4-ways airbell.

Albino trout can be spotted in the sump along with many white bullhead fish. Some trout appear to be in a transitional stage between normal brown trout colourings and albino.
The maximum depth of the main diving route is about 13m and the cave is only divable in the driest of weather.

How to record surface data:

Photo: When the cave is un-divable, observations should be taken here of the divers entrance and a note made of water levels above or below the 'ledge' on the right (see picture).
